R. Allen Smith, Jr. founded the Smith Law Firm, PLLC in 2007.  Allen initiated the first talcum powder and ovarian cancer case against Johnson & Johnson, and filed and successfully tried the first case to verdict in South Dakota Federal Court in 2013.  Since 2013, Allen has tried nine additional talc and ovarian cancer cases against Johnson & Johnson, obtaining verdicts totaling nearly one billion dollars.

Allen’s practice focuses on products liability cases and class action lawsuits and is dedicated to bringing justice to victims and their families who have been wronged, injured or killed by defective products throughout the United States and internationally. His cases and outcomes have garnered national and international attention, not just because of their success, but also because of Allen’s ingenuity and creativity in the courtroom.

As one of the most sought-out experts in his field, he has given seminars on product liability and served as a guest speaker on television programs. Highly praised by his clients and peers, Allen works tirelessly to garner the best possible result for his clients. In fact, Allen was the only attorney in the United States to have two of the top 10 verdicts in 2017, and three of the top 10 verdicts in 2016.
