Allen Smith, on behalf of Deane Berg, was the first lawyer to seek damages for a client based on injuries caused by talcum powder exposure. From that first lawsuit to today, The Smith Law Firm takes an aggressive stance with these cases and has secured almost $1 billion in trial verdicts on behalf of its talcum powder clients. Of the New Yorker story, Allen says:

“I am very proud of the fact that Ms. Berg and I started this very important litigation against Johnson & Johnson in 2009.  We exposed Johnson & Johnson’s corporate greed and indifference for its consumers, and shined a light on its attempt to improperly influence governmental organizations to protect its most valued product.  Profit should never be more important than human life.  It is very satisfying that this litigation caused Johnson & Johnson to stop selling talc-based body powders to consumers world-wide, thereby preventing any other women from being diagnosed with ovarian cancer caused by these products.  This was Ms. Berg’s goal from the beginning and she succeeded.”
